Reunion 2009 our 25th anniversary

Dear friends,

Update 25th June 2009

Andrew Humphreys, the editor of Gulf Life the inflight magazine of Gulf Air, is putting together an article full of the memories, reminicences and anecdotes of former cabin crew over the decades. Life in Bahrain, working in the Gulf, landmark trips and events. The odder and more colourful the better, but it's got to be printable. Pictures also welcome. Anyone who has anything to contribute, please contact him directly at

andrew.humphreys@ink-publishing.com but please dont hang around as the story has to be writen within the next couple of weeks

Our 25th anniversary was a huge success. We knew it was going to be our largest gathering as we were getting bookings right to the last minute.

We had fun setting up the Pavillion room at the BA Concorde club as there were so many tables. We decided this year to have complimentary drinks poured out for arriving guests which turned out to be a good idea. It stopped the usual scrum in the bar. We also provided two bottles of wine on each table.

People were soon pouring in and with drinks in hand began to circulate and meet up with old friends. We were delighted to see so many new faces this year, who were made very welcome and we found out later that many of them will join us again in the future.

Ding as usual ordered us a splendid buffet lunch. After which we drew our raffle. We had some great prizes this year given by reunionists. First prize, two free Olympic Airways tickets donated by Joanna Hancock were won by Jenny Bissell.Champagne and a GulfAir book were won by Bo Mcgory and Pat Gilligan won the perfume donated by Debbie Al Asfoor. We raised £545 for cancer research,so many thanks to you all for your generous contributions.

You may not be aware that your present organisers have been in place for 5 years. Ding is now looking for someone to aid her with this task. We need two more people to help. If you would like to have a go email Ding or Me, details on the contact page.

After a very jolly afternoon we closed the proceedings at 5.30pm,after which many of us repaired to the BA bar for final drinks and goodbyes.

The final crowd who were staying at the Heathrow Sheraton had a "crew party" where oaths of undying friendship were exchanged and the final toasts were drunk. So ended another splendid reunion.

We look forward to seeing you all again in 2010 May 8th to be exact.

Best wishes Brian Ding and Jonsey
